Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength

The fear of dying is not that much as much as fear of losing is, why?

Because we are well aware that dying means it’s a complete dead end and it won’t matter to us anymore if anything happens.

It is totally different while you are alive, how deal with day to day activities and incidents. Based on these I always feel human is not futuristic at all because we are always worries with our immediate requirements and how to fulfill them.

How come we don’t worry everyday about driving our car to work or whatever our destination may be? Because driving a motor car is more dangerous if we are not careful and can cause damage to self and others, that’s more chaos yet without much thinking we take our car keys and walk out of the door with the confidence that we will be back home. We even tell our family, dog and everyone that see you in the evening. But then we worry about what if I lose this job today or tomorrow? What if I am not able to pay my mortgage? What if I am not making money? Will that make a huge impact? Or will I survive?

“People become attached to their burdens sometimes more than the burdens are attached to them.” ~ George Bernard Shaw

I would say leave all that worry behind, when we cannot control something, not even death then why worry unnecessarily about anything?

If things have to happen then it will happen, and the consequences will be seen and mitigated accordingly then. I truly take this guidance from my Dad because even when someone pick-pocket a large sum money from his pocket, my Mom was concerned about the money that is gone and my Dad was like it’s gone so no point in worrying. All I look at it as that money was not meant for me.

So easy, phew! I also agree with that why worry about something which is already gone? And why worry about something which has not happened yet?

Poetry is an echo, asking a shadow to dance…!

whydo-we-dowhat-we-do-2.png

Time many people call is valuable and is running all the time.

I wonder doesn’t this time gets tired of running this fast all the time?

And why should we run around him like a slave, when we say don’t be anyone’s slave?

So many contradictory statements we make and still we follow them, why?

Are we so hypocrite or we are helpless in front of all these?

This doesn’t help, because what is the use of being knowledgeable and yet can’t follow what we believe in?

Why we call ourselves independent and yet see ourselves tied to a clock, a calendar, a place and so many such things?

We do call things are all materialistic and we should keep ourselves free of them, yet this dilemma, why?

Do we really know that we still follow things that we don’t want to follow?

Are we confused that we stumble upon things like a trolley and just go by the flow and speed?

Or is it that we make a goal for ourselves calling it a passion and the rest is tied-up to all these immaterial things that bind us, tie us to a tracking system?

Why we are and what we are?

There might be an answer for each one which might be different. I am searching mine hope you find yours.

Let go of wanting things…!

Denis Diderot lived in poverty all along,
He got a fortune at the age of fifty two,
He went crazy bought a scarlet robe,
It was so beautiful looked out of place,
No more coordination  no beauty,
Between his robe and rest of the items,
He bought some new things to match,
Changed his rug, bought beautiful sculptures,
And a better kitchen table too,
Bought a new mirror to place above the mantle,
New leather chair and what not,
The whole thing became Diderot effect!
We end up buying things that,
Our previous selves never needed one,
To be happy or fulfilled one,
We all do this in our lives,
Life has a natural tendency,
To become filled with more,
Do we ever look to downgrade?
To simplify? To eliminate? To reduce?
Human natural inclination is always
To accumulate, to add, to upgrade, to build upon,
Avoid the habit triggers at first place,
Buy items that fit your current system,
Set self-imposed limits,
Buy one and give one,
Let go of wanting things,
Fill life with optimal amount of things,
Let Diderot’s example teach all of us!

It’s a story of one of those evenings…!

The beautiful picture is in making,
A tinch of orange is still shining,
The grey color of ash is messing,
Still the plain canvas is conveying,
A story and the story that’s evolving,
Grey and orange with a black mixing,
It’s a story of one of those evenings,
Where love and hate uncovering,
The mystery of being together!

The time travels it’s own ways and so do we!

Many have traveled across this path,
Many will travel this same path,
There are some paths you cross,
And wish I could cross again,
And again, to rejoice and cherish,
To not lose touch with those times,
And yet, some paths you crossed
Wish you never had, but yet you did,
Each path showed life and its consequences,
Each walk gave its pain and pleasures,
Each pain taught you lessons,
And pleasures that you see still around,
Sometimes you felt you never crossed paths with,
Yet you accept reality that it had to happen,
And had to cross it this way to repent,
Many will travel and many will cherish,
The time travels it’s own ways and so do we!

Be happy and live happy…!

nutrition

A poetry for the Nutrition month of the year for Hyde Park Poetry @ Thursday poets rally.

Life can be dramatic,
Weather can be tragic,
News can traumatize,
What can you do at times?
People can be mean,
A character or disdain,
Its in everyone’s gene,
What can you do?
The world may torn apart,
Your ways can go apart,
Think one thing in life,
Nature also rejuvenates,
After every stormy night,
Eat healthy, sleep well,
Nourish your soul,
Nourish your body,
Regain your strength,
Empower your life,
Add one ingredient,
Need good nutrition,
To lead your life,
The healthy you are,
Most wealthy you are,
To face this world,
Gain your inner strength,
Feed your life,
Be happy and live happy,
Until you die 😉

Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that…!!!

Today I marched in support of the student’s movement ‘Our lives matter’, ‘March for Our Lives’, protest against guns and gun violence. It’s funny that when I was growing up, I never had to get into any such activity. What I love about my childhood is that there might be great matters that adults involved in bringing their voice together but as a child in school I never had to protest or do a march against anything and I take that as a blessing for my life in those days.
Imagine today’s kids are not only stressed about getting good grades or understand a particular problem or concept for exam but also worry about their existence … being alive.

It’s a shame on us!!! We enjoyed our childhood and didn’t make sure that it continues the same or better for our next and many future generations to enjoy that childhood in peace. I have marched for many such protests in this country and each time it was for an equality cause. Sometimes it was due to the inequality, for LGBTQA, for Women and now for Children – it breaks my heart. I was marching along and on and off my eyes fill with tears because whenever I think or see a child I go back to my days and its such a pleasure to be there that I have often said to myself – “wish I could go back and pause that moment”.

“Peace cannot be kept by force, it can only be achieved by understanding.” ~ Martin Luther King Jr.

It’s sad when I see kids marching for their lives.
Many motivational speeches were made by students, teachers, and representatives and then someone gave a speech calling out the President of America as the “orange guy”. It put me off there and then itself.
What are we talking about? Peace? Equality? When are we going to learn to respect one another? When? You talk about change and equality and peace but at the same time you put a racist remark and there goes your equality, change and peace.

“An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind”

People take anger and courage as one, people were marching against gun laws and the anger is towards the current administration but I don’t think one can solve anything with anger.
It was amazing how the crowd out there was all about peace and for the children when two students came to me and said can we ask a question and I said sure!

“Do you think there should be cops in schools for protection”?, my answer straight came from my heart as ‘No’!
Because school should not need protection. Schools need more facility and support for education. You need more teachers, students, principal and books. There is no need of guns, a protection as long as teachers are doing their job of teaching and protecting the kids. I went to a school in India and my school don’t have a cop, military or even a gun. The students completely agreed with my opinion as they also felt there is no need of another armed personnel in the school.
I strongly believe, to bring real peace we need to love our enemies. It is tough but we have to be realistic and think about it before its too late. Love your enemy because hatred is only going to bring hatred, anger and revenge then. Let’s not call anyone names, lets be human and ask for peace! March only for PEACE!

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
